As a partner of agriculture in the third generation, we have witnessed and accompanied the many changes in agriculture and trade.
Below you will find a timeline with the most important stations of our more than 70-year history:
1949
In a time of economic reconstruction in Germany, Karl Bergmann establishes a trade in country products.
1959
Helmut Bergmann, Karl’s son, takes over the company. The company now trades under the name Karl Bergmann Sohn. At the beginning to the end of the 60s, important steps are taken to become a modern agricultural trading company: New construction and later expansion of a warehouse at the later headquarters.
1965
This was followed by the move to the new company building with a specialist garden store, as well as the start-up of 3 branches in the district of Alzenau and Aschaffenburg. The 60s are characterized by the rapid development of large-scale fattening plants and their supply with feed.
1970
A new line of business, the wholesale of fruit and vegetables, establishes itself as a third mainstay.
1974
The company Karl Bergmann Sohn becomes the first “green department store” in Bavaria. From then on, the name “DAS GRÜNE WARENHAUS” gains importance and becomes a synonym for trade around garden and agriculture.
1974
the founder Karl Bergmann passes away.
1989
the company is transformed into a limited liability company (GmbH). After the German reunification, the agricultural trade is also expanded to the new federal states, thus forcing the supra-regional grain trade.
1992
The first sales of grain from organic production have already followed.
1998
For the first time, grain is traded throughout Europe
2003
Klaus Bergmann takes over the management in the third generation. In the same year, the quality management GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) is implemented.
2004
The company becomes a certified and recognized Bio Suisse Trader.
2005
Takes place the installation of a 29.9KWp solar power system. At the same time, a 9.45KWp system is installed in the office building. EDP-supported batch management is introduced.
2006
Start of trade in cereals from “overseas” and import of organic cereals from third countries.
2007
Extension of organic certification to include the American NOP standard.
2008
Implementation of new agricultural software that allows faster and comprehensive traceability, especially with communication technology.
2009
With fresh impulses into the new year. The company image is reflected by the new LOGO.
2013
Energetic renovation of the company building with an ecological focus. Local hemp is used as an insulating material.
2014
Serving agriculture for 65 years.
2018
Energy refurbishment 2nd part. The former store extension is renovated. This time with recycled jute bags for cocoa beans from RITTER SPORT.
